Stress at Sea
11.8.09
Today I was expecting to sleep until noon because I was exhausted from Vietnam and Cambodia, but of course I woke up at 0830 and couldnt go back to sleep.
Katie knocked on my door and we had a nice chart about planning Japan. She was stressing out a little bit, but we got it all figured out. We had to plan our independent travel in Japan because we have to have the forms in today. Originally, we were going to stay off the ship, but now after really looking at it and realizing how much it was going to cost, it just made more sense to stay on the ship. But now I dont get to go to Hiroshima and DisneySea, but I still get to go to Tokyo, Kyoto, and now explore Kobe and Yokohama. But I figure that Japan is a country that I think I will want to come back to.
We grabbed some lunch and then hung out in the room. At 4, we went to Mackenzies Women in Leadership panel. Christie, Eileen, Dr. Burch, Dr. Mitnick, Rosario, Grace (from Global Nomads) and Dani were all on it. It was really empowering and amazing to hear all of their diverse backgrounds. I never realized how much I could learn from the people on the ship.
Afterward, we went to dinner and I finally got to meet Dr. Burch, WKUs provost who has joined us on the ship until Hong Kong. We went up to Deck 7, grabbed some ice cream and I had to go to a CSI Committee meeting, where I realized that I have a lot of work left to do. I also went to a workshop on networking. I closed out the night with a game of pish posh.
